Barcelona set to extend Arturo Vidal contract

Barcelona are ready to offer Arturo Vidal a one-year contract extension, just eight months after he joined in a surprise £27million move.

The Spanish newspaper claim he has become a ‘wildcard’ for manager Ernesto Valverde and Barcelona are keen to avoid him leaving for free in the summer of 2021.

Valverde has reportedly been impressed with the way Vidal has performed against all manner of opponents, and the way he has integrated with the rest of the squad.

The Chilean midfielder has overcome a difficult start to life in Barcelona, during which he found regular game time hard to come by. But he has become an important squad member, rotating regularly with fellow new boy Arthur.

Sport claim Vidal is happy with his new role at the La Liga club, despite One of the characteristics of Arturo Vidal is to give everything, to make an effort more.

It is his virtue, the enthusiasm to push is good because he is a forward player, Valverde often recalls.

That has not gone unnoticed, with clubs such as Inter reportedly interested in luring him back to Italy.
