Manchester United confirm new appointments as Victor Lindelof suffers injury setback

Victor Lindelof has
withdrawn from the Sweden squad due to a recurrent injury.

His miserable season with Manchester United was compounded by a
World Cup play-off final defeat to Poland in March. The 27-year-old was named
in the latest Sweden squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures against
Norway, Serbia and Slovenia.

However, the national team captain and first-choice defender has pulled
out of the group due to a ‘serious’ knock which plagued him towards the end of
the campaign at United. The nature of the problem has not been disclosed, but
he will play no part in the June internationals.

United
have made two new appointments at Youth-team level as part of their wider
improvements to the sports science department. Alex Ouzounoglou has arrived at
Carrington from Burnley, where he spent over a decade, and Matt Walker has
joined the club from Cambridge United.

Ouzounoglou
has taken up the role of Head of Athletic Development for the Youth Development
Phase, working with players between the ages of 12 and 16. Walker will serve as
Head of Athletic Development for the Professional Development Phase, working
with players between the ages of 17 and 23.
