Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley has picked up an injury which could keep him sidelined for a number of months.
Miley played a crucial role for the Magpies last season amid a plethora of injury issues around him. However, a back injury suffered whilst on international duty prematurely curtailed his season.
Eddie Howe was keen to ensure the teenager was not rushed back into action too soon at the end of the campaign last year in order to protect him. However, as reported by the Chronicle, Miley has suffered a fresh injury at the club’s training ground and will undergo an operation in London to fix a broken bone in his foot.
Miley is expected to be out for around three months and there are hopes he will miss only six Premier League matches before he can make his return to the first-team. The injury will keep him out of their pre-season trip to Japan, however.
