Barcelona boss Hansi Flick spoke about how he’d “never experienced anything like this” after seeing his team take on Getafe in La Liga.
The Catalans had romped to big wins over Real Madrid and Real Betis in recent weeks but were brought back down to earth with a bang at Getafe.
A typical Getafe game saw tempers flare, Alejandro Balde subjected to racist abuse, and Flick frustrated afterwards.
Here’s what he made of it:
“There was a lot of emotion in this stadium, in all the complicated plays. I’ve never experienced anything like this, it’s new for me. I’m not happy with what happened today but we have to think about the next match and try to be positive,” he said.
“I’m not happy. We knew we wanted to win, we had chances and we are disappointed. Today we saw what it means to play here in Getafe, it is very hard. They defend very well and we were not successful in front of goal.
“I think we had opportunities but we lacked rhythm in the movement of the ball. We have to accept what happened today.
“We were unable to take advantage of Koundé’s opening goal, we let them draw and then, despite our efforts, we were unable to get the three points. We have to accept that and think about the next game in the Champions League and against Benfica.”
“There is a lot of season left and we will fight until the end, we have to look forward.”
Barcelona now go on to play Benfica in the Champions League and then face Valencia next time out in La Liga.
