Barcelona boss Hansi Flick hailed Lamine Yamal after seeing the teenager star for Barcelona against Benfica in the Champions League.
The teenager set up the first, although it wasn’t quite as he intended as he’s admitted, and then scored a sensational second on a great night for Barca.
Flick was thrilled to see Lamine at his best once again as Barca advance to the quarter-finals.
“I’m very happy for Lamine, we all are,” he told reporters.
“He was brilliant, I was looking for that goal because he hadn’t scored for a while and it came at the most opportune moment for him and for the team.”
“I think Benfica are a very strong team and I have respect for what they can do on the pitch. They are one of the best teams in possession and their coach is doing a great job. But we are also great, and I am very happy about that.
“We played a great game, I think we did very well. We could have scored a couple more goals, but I’m happy.”
There was also plenty of praise for Pedri who scooped the MVP award with another dominant showing in midfielder.
“He’s able to win the ball. I am also really surprised about that, but he’s 100% fit and it’s good to see what he’s doing with the ball, but also without the ball is unbelievable,” he added.
“He’s in the right position at the moment and for me, in this position, he’s the best in the world.”
Barcelona now head into a fixture against either Lille or Dortmund and Flick is feeling confident.
“It’s important to look at who we’ll be drawn against in the quarter-finals because the Champions League is an objective, yes, but it’s the most difficult trophy to win. We hope we can achieve it,” he said.
In the meantime, Flick and his men have another tough test at the weekend as they head to Atletico Madrid for a huge La Liga clash.
