A look at the injury news surrounding Arsenal and Real Madrid as they prepare to face off in the Champions League.
Arsenal now turn their attention to a Champions League quarter-final clash with Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium after their draw with Everton on Saturday.
The Gunners will be prioritising the Champions League at this stage having fallen out of the Premier League title race, but they will have to earn their spot in the next round, facing the current champions.
Though, Los Blancos suffered a setback of their own on Saturday, losing at home to strugglers Valencia. As attention turns to Tuesday night’s game, we have rounded up all the latest injury and suspension news surrounding both teams.
Dani Carvajal – Out
Carvajal is out long-term with an ACL injury and will not be back until the summer.
Eder Militao – Out
Militao also suffered an ACL injury, and he is looking to return for the summer’s Club World Cup, now back in light training.
Ferland Mendy – Doubt
Mendy has missed the last couple of weeks with a muscular injury that he suffered against Atletico Madrid, but he has a chance of returning here.
Dani Ceballos – Doubt
Ceballos is another who could return after a recent spell out with a hamstring issue. The midfielder wasn’t in the squad for the Valencia defeat, but he has a chance of playing this one.
Thibaut Courtois – Doubt
Ancelotti has said that Courtois is doing ‘much better’ having been out with a muscular issue, also missing the Valencia clash. Los Blancos have been prioritising this game for his return.
Andriy Lunin – Doubt
Lunin also has a chance of returning here having had a minor muscular issue that kept him out of the Valencia game.
Aurelien Tchouameni – Out (Suspended)
Tchouameni picked up a third yellow card of the Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid and he will serve his suspension here.
Raheem Sterling – Out (Suspended)
Sterling has reached the yellow card limit in the Champions League and will serve his one-game suspension here.
Gabriel Jesus – Out
Jesus is out for the season after he ruptured his ACL early in the year. A statement read at the time: “Further to being substituted during our match with Man United, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the ACL in his left knee.”
