Sven Ulreich is one of the most trusted goalkeepers in Europe. For a decade now, Bayern Munich has relied on Ulreich to backup the net for Neuer, and even started several important matches for the club over the years.
The loyalty seems to go both ways as Ulreich is looking to extend his contract with the club for another year.
Sky Sport reports that Sven Ulreich will be extending his contract at Bayern Munich for one more year. Despite Manuel Neuer, the emerging Jonas Urbig, and Daniel Peretz all at the club, Ulreich is going to extend.
Ulreich surely now sits at last in the order at the age of 36 years old, but his experience can still prove valuable, especially if Neuer has another long-term injury, and Urbig needs rotation or support.
While this is not a blockbuster by any means, it is a good sign that Bayern are looking to keep depth and experience in the squad, as long as wages remain reasonable. On the bright side, Ulreich shouldn’t have to face against Karim Benzema again.
