Dani Carvajal: “I am very sad about Ancelotti’s departure”

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal spoke to El Chiringuito about manager Carlo Ancelotti’s impact on his game, and his departure.

He was asked about the fact that Ancelotti would leave at the end of this La Liga campaign, to which he showed his dismay. He said: “I am very sad about Ancelotti’s departure. He is almost like a sports father to me. I hope he gets the send-off he deserves.”

He talked about how long he has been around the manager, and said: “I have been with Ancelotti for many years, we have won everything with him. I hope he gets the farewell he deserves as the most successful coach in history.”

Carvajal was also asked about imminent signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, to which he only said positive things. He added: “Yes, that is clear. It is not official yet, but it looks like it [laughs].

“No, there is no fear here. We will be teammates. The competition will strengthen both of us and will bring out our best.”

Finally, Carvajal said good things about the latest Real Madrid player Dean Huijsen. He said: “Dean Huijsen is a great signing. We welcome him, and I am sure he will help us a lot.”
