However, they now face the daunting task of making significant changes from their current 16th place in the Premier League, without the allure of European football to entice new signings.
Their woeful 1-0 loss to Spurs summed up everything that is currently wrong with the squad, highlighting the need for fresh faces.
United have since made it clear that every player at the club could be up for sale this summer. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who took over the club last February, has shown no hesitation in shaking things up, setting the stage for what could be a challenging summer.

Fernandes breaks his silence
Once considered indispensable, Bruno Fernandes’ status at United is no longer secure. The club will entertain offers for every member of their squad, including the captain, who spoke about a possible departure following the defeat.
“I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go,” Fernandes stated. “I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to great days.
“In the day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way. If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cash in or whatever, it’s what it is, and football sometimes is like this.”
Garnacho anger
Alejandro Garnacho expressed his anger after being left on the bench for the Europa League final, despite having played every round up to that point. “Until we reached the final, I played every round,” Garnacho remarked post-match.
“And I played 20 minutes today – I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”
With United needing to raise funds, Garnacho, who has recently put his house on the market, could be one of the players on the move, along with loanees Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.
Transfer budget
Amorim will have a £100million transfer budget for the summer window, according to The Guardian. Following a disappointing first season in charge, United are poised to overhaul their squad, and they don’t need to sell before they can buy.
