Romeu returns to Barcelona after Girona loan

Oriol Romeu has returned to parent club Barcelona following the end of his season-loan deal with Girona.

The club confirmed Romeu was departing following the end of the 2024-25 La Liga season.

Romeu made 31 appearances in all competitions for Michel’s side who ended the campaign in 16th place in the table.

Here’s the club’s statement:

”Bryan Gil, Oriol Romeu, Arnaut Danjuma and Arthur Melo, the four players on loan who have worn the red and white shirt this season, return to their teams of origin. Romeu has played sixty-five games between two stages, scoring two goals; Bryan has played on thirty-two occasions, scoring four goals and providing three assists; Danjuma, thirty-four games and three goals and two assists; and Arthur, sixteen games.

“The Club would like to thank them most sincerely for their dedication and effort. It has been a pleasure to have their talent. For all these reasons we wish them every success in their future projects.”

It remains to be seen what will happen with Romeu. He has a contract at Barcelona until 2026 but doesn’t appear to be part of the club’s plans for the future.
