The Jobe Bellingham Saga continues into the weekend after an expected decision this week. Bellingham, the nineteen year old Sunderland midfielder, has been a hot topic of discussion among Borussia Dortmund fans and transfer speculators the last week, and the saga doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.
The young Englishman has had a busy week following his Championship winning run to earn Sunderland’s promotion to the English Premier League a week ago. Bellingham held talks with BVB and then traveled to Frankfurt for a tour of the city and Eintracht facilities, which was apparently preempted by Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke personally visiting Bellingham and his family in England.
Both Dortmund and Frankfurt can offer Jobe UEFA Champions League football next season, but Sunderland also wished to keep Bellingham as they compete in the English Premier League next season. Jobe and his family know what to expect in Dortmund, but Jobe could be concerned with being compared to his brother, Jude.
Today, Sky journalist, Patrick Berger reports that no decision has been made yet regarding Jobe’s future, even after BVB Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl traveled to Ibiza for a personal conversation with Jobe. There has been no formal commitment or rejection to either BVB or Eintracht.
Should BVB’s Jobe Bellingham pursuit fall through, BVB have identified Swiss talent, Ardon Jashari, but the Black and Yellows could face competition from Bayer Leverkusen and the war chest of funds they will have from selling Florian Wirtz in the coming weeks. Bellingham is expected to cost around 30-million euros, while Jashari could require 25-30 million.
It’s been a tricky chess match between clubs, and Borussia Dortmund is hoping to secure Bellingham’s signature before the Club World Cup next month.
