Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche has confirmed that striker Chris Wood will miss Saturday’s game against Manchester United.
Wood is yet to feature since reuniting with his former Burnley boss and, despite hopes he could return against the Red Devils, the New Zealand international is set for another week on the sidelines.
Although Wood’s continued absence will do little to help Forest overturn a run of 461 minutes without a Premier League goal, Dyche offered hope that the six-foot-three striker could return at the City Ground early next month.
As well as Wood, Dyche confirmed that several Forest players will play no role in Saturday’s game, pointing out the club’s growing injury woes.
“Angus Gunn, who’s not currently playing. Woody’s [Chris Wood’s] going to be possible for the Leeds United game, but won’t make this one, we’ll have to see how that goes.”Ola [Aina]’s making good progress, [Oleksandr] Zinchenko’s a no at the moment, unfortunately, that one’s going to be a bit longer than we thought. [Dilane] Bakwa’s still a no, but is making good progress.
“Unfortunately, I have to read them off here [a written list] so I don’t forget them. So we’re hoping there are no more [injuries], that’s for sure.”
