Newcastle United will face a Manchester United side shorn of five first-team stars at Old Trafford tonight. New manager Rubin Amorim is already under pressure after seeing his side fail to improve following Erik ten Hag’s departure, and has been dealt a big blow with two key suspensions this evening.
Newcastle head to the North West full of confidence following wins over Leicester, Brentford, Ipswich and Aston Villa, but will be wary of a backlash from their hosts this evening. Man United have beaten neighbours Man City this month, but will be without some important first-team stars.
Captain Bruno Fernandes will sit the game out having picked up a one-match suspension following his red card in the Boxing Day defeat at Wolves.
He was sent off for two yellow cards but despite it being his third red card of the season, he will only miss one game.
He saw an earlier dismissal against Spurs overturned on appeal,. while his other red card came against Porto in the Europa League and doesn’t count towards domestic games.
