Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media after the 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the final of the Copa Del Rey on Saturday. He was asked about their performance in the second half, and he said: “In the second half, we looked for ways out from the back, and when they eased off the pressure a bit, we managed to do so. We played a very good game in the second half.”

“We had the game under control, but they tried to get a ball behind us and that’s when things got complicated. We have to keep fighting because we gave everything we had, we competed very well. We were closer than our opponent.
“It hurts that we weren’t able to lift the Cup, but we did the job we had to do.”

“I preferred to bring him on in the second half, when the pace had dropped a bit. He couldn’t keep up the whole game and that’s why he came off in the second half. He had some very good minutes.”
Ancelotti on Brahim and Modric’s miscommunication
“Something went wrong, because Brahim thought Modric was going to chase him down behind him, but he shot low and short. These are small details that sometimes cost you nothing, and other times they cost you a lot. You have to rest and keep competing until the end.”
