The agent of Serie A and Bologna star Jhon Lucumi has stated that he is well capable of making a mark for a club like Atletico Madrid, who have been linked with the defender.
The centre-back has impressed for the Rossoblu this season and this comes right after he impressed under Thiago Motta last season as well.
His agent Simone Rondanini has now spoken to Tuttomercatoweb about his client’s future at Bologna and was asked specifically about interest from Atletico Madrid.
He told the outlet: “He wouldn’t be the first Colombian to play there and they did very well. I’m sure that, given his level, he could make his mark in a team of that calibre. In the Champions League he achieved important numbers, comparable to those of the best defenders in the competition, which is the stage where the greatest play.
“The most important thing for him now is to stay focused on this final part of the season: key matches are coming up and we will see his best level.”
Speaking of the defender’s future at Bologna and his contract situation, the agent said: “He has a contract in force with Bologna, as you said. The World Cup is still far away on the horizon and the most important thing now is to achieve the objectives that they have ahead and dream of that Cup final.
“Then we’ll see what happens. There are important clubs in Europe that have been following him for a long time, but he is focused on winning that title with Bologna.”
Lucumi has played 38 times in all competitions this season and also starred in their Champions League campaign. He has clearly gone up a level under Vincenzo Italiano, become better at sustaining possession.
Under Motta, the team’s setup revolved around playing quickly through the lines against teams that pressed high up the pitch.
