Barca & Monaco reportedly in talks to finalize Ansu Fati loan deal

Ansu Fati of FC Barcelona plays during the La Liga EA Sports match between FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF at Olimpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Spain, on May 18, 2025.

FC Barcelona and AS Monaco have reportedly resumed negotiations to arrange a loan move for 22-year-old winger Ansu Fati.

Talks had stalled due to financial disagreements, mainly over how to divide Fati’s high salary.

Barcelona initially wanted Monaco to cover 80%, while the French club only offered 30%. Recent progress suggests a compromise may be reached closer to 40%, though Barcelona is still pushing for a larger contribution from Monaco.

The proposed deal is a one-season loan, possibly with a purchase clause at the end. While Barcelona preferred a mandatory buy option, all parties are now open to making that clause optional. They have yet to agree on a final purchase price, though €15 million has been discussed.

Fati is expected to return from vacation soon to finalize his future, especially because living in Monaco for at least 183 days this year would allow him to benefit from local tax laws.

Barcelona is eager to complete the deal quickly so they can shift focus to other player sales and squad planning.

The club is considering moves for other players like Marc-André ter Stegen and Pablo Torre.
