After signing Jonathan Tah on a free transfer, Bayern Munich have no immediate plans to sign a defender during the remainder of the summer transfer window.
They are well covered in all positions across the back four. However, they could potentially lose one young star after the Club World Cup.
Adam Aznou was drafted into the squad for the Club World Cup after his successful loan spell at Real Valladolid during the second half of the season. Aznou travelled to the USA as a deputy to Raphael Guerreiro in the left-back position.
Bayern officials rate Aznou highly and believe that he can eventually become a top full-back. However, it looks like Aznou may flourish at another club next season as he looks to engineer a move away from Bavaria.
According to Footmercato, Aznou is frustrated with the lack of game time at Bayern during the Club World Cup. He is yet to get playing time after coming off from the bench for the last eight minutes against Auckland City FC in the first group game.
The youngster wants to play regularly next season with the aim of getting a place in the Moroccan team for the AFCON. Aznou prefers a move to La Liga this summer, with Real Betis showing interest in signing the youngster.
Bayern will not sanction a permanent sale this summer since they believe Aznou can have a long-term future at the club. The Bavarian club will look for a loan move that will see him play every week and gain valuable experience at the top level.
Bayern will not sign a left-back to replace Aznou
With the potential departure of Aznou, Bayern will have only one natural left-back fit for the first quarter of the season.
Raphael Guerreiro will have to play week in and week out in the first three months since Alphonso Davies is recovering from a knee injury.
Die Roten will have Davies fit by November which will ensure that there is no need to sign a new left-back this summer. Josip Stanisic can also do a job in the left-back position.
Bayern are well covered in both full-back positions at the time being. Another defensive addition may arrive in the center-back position if Kim Min-jae leaves Munich.
The South Korean is weighing up his future with the Bundesliga champions after enduring a difficult second half of the season.
Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Al-Nassr have been linked with Kim Min-jae this summer.
