Thomas Partey asking price emerges as race for PSG star ramps up

Thomas Partey of Arsenal
Thomas Partey of Arsenal warms up prior to the Premier League match between Arsenal FC and Chelsea FC at Emirates Stadium on April 23, 2024 in London, England.

The summer transfer window is officially up and running. And while Arsenal are yet to engage in any meaningful business in the summer transfer window thus far, it seems like only a matter of time.

After losing out to Manchester City by the barest of margins last term, the Gunners have set their sights on bolstering their forward line after missing out on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Along with a first-class striker, a winger is also on the agenda, while a new midfielder could also join depending on the club’s outgoings in the coming weeks, with Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson linked with moves away, along with Aaron Ramsdale .

Mikel Arteta does have cash to splash, but departures could play a key role in securing the appropriate funds.

Partey price revealed

Arsenal will demand £30million to sell Thomas Partey this summer.

The Ghana midfielder made 14 appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners last term during a season blighted by ongoing injury.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia are reportedly preparing to offer the Ghana midfielder a big pay day to move to the Middle East.

Partey was not a regular for Mikel Arteta last season and Arsenal are said to be ready to cash in to fund their other transfer interests this summer. His current contract with the club is set to expire next summer.

Xavi Simons race heats up

The Dutch midfielder will make a big decision on his future during the summer’s showpiece event.

According to L’Equipe, a loan move away from Paris Saint-Germain looks the most likely outcome, with both Arsenal and Manchester United monitoring the situation with mounting interest.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a prolific season on loan with RB Leipzig last season, having supplied 15 assists and 10 goals in 43 appearances for the German side.

His former club PSV would be owed much of his transfer fee, should he leave permanently, so Les Parisiens want to bide their time and a first-team role is not expected to be on the table for next season.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City have also shown interest for the young attacking midfielder.

Another summer of Federico Chiesa is upon us. The Italian lit up the last Euros and showed the same positive signs in Italy’s 2-1 group stage victory over Albania.

The 26-year-old has an uncertain future at Juventus and while the Gunners were linked with a move for the forward, his next move could be determined by the future of Mason Greenwood.

Reports have suggested Juventus were looking to use Chiesa in a deal to bring United forward Greenwood to Turin, meaning a potential blow to Arsenal’s chances of securing the player.

It has been reported that Chiesa has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs this summer including Chelsea and Newcastle. But any business will have to wait until after Chiesa’s international duties are over.

Arsenal will have to wait until after Euro 2024 to complete the signing of Federico Chiesa.
