Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Destiny
Udogie from Udinese.

Udogie has signed a
five-year deal with Spurs and will return to Udinese on loan for the 2022-23
campaign.

The Athletic reported last week that Spurs had agreed an initial fee of an
initial £15million ($18.14m) for the 19-year-old, which could rise to almost
£20million.

Udogie, a natural
left wing-back, was not included in Udinese’s squad for their first Serie A match
of the season, a 4-2 defeat by AC Milan on
Saturday.

Spurs’ current
squad has strong depth in Udogie’s position after the summer arrival of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan to compete with Ryan SessegnonMatt Doherty can also play there if required.

Tottenham head
coach Antonio Conte is a huge admirer of Udogie, who scored five goals in 35
league appearances for Udinese last season, having joined from Verona in the
summer of 2021.

Director of football
Fabio Paratici is also known to have followed Udogie’s career, which has seen
him represent Italy at various youth levels, up to the under-21s. When
Paratici was at Juventus, he was interested in signing Udogie while he was at
Verona.

Udogie becomes
Spurs’ seventh signing of the summer in what has been a busy transfer window
for the north London club.

Spurs face Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Saturday in their
next Premier League match.
