Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer is eager to see his squad face-off with Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup.

“Paris are definitely one of the best teams in Europe at the moment and have also played well so far in this Club World Cup. We’re facing the Champions League winners with the utmost respect – but we are FC Bayern and don’t have to hide. As we’ve seen, our team is in good form – and when two top teams play against each other, it’s always a spectacle for the fans. In such games, it’s all about details; sometimes form on the day decides,” Hainer told Tz’s Vinzent Tschirpke (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

“PSG have undergone an interesting development over the past two years. The team stands for great attacking football. And we, too, always aim to inspire our fans with forward-thinking football”Overall, Hainer is a big fan of the competition and see the benefits for a team like Bayern Munich and also for the contingent from South America.

“This Club World Cup has the nice effect of allowing our team and coaching staff to work intensively together over a long period of time. For new signings like Jonathan Tah, this means easier integration. You get the feeling that the team is growing even closer together. That’s crucial here,” said Hainer.

“If you look at South America alone, the enthusiasm fans have for the Club World Cup shows the potential this format has. That’s what we’re here for. If you don’t go out into the world, you’ll eventually disappear.”
