Manchester United will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Brazilian international Lucas Beraldo from Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Lucas Beraldo is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are surprisingly keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window.
So, the 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain prospect has emerged as a target for the Premier League outfit.
Lucas Beraldo has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1 since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Sao Paulo FC in January 2024.
A native of Piracicaba, the highly-rated South American defender spent his formative years in Brazil and graduated from the youth division at Sao Paulo FC.PSG beat stiff competition from high-profile clubs to sign Beraldo nearly 18 months ago.
The 24-year-old hit the ground running at PSG and has been top-class for Les Parisiens, even though he has been in and out of the starting lineup thus far.
In addition, the youngster has broken into his national squad. The Brazilian international has turned out over 50 times thus far for PSG while chipping in with three goals.
Meanwhile, Beraldo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Manchester United may be one of the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United’s interest in Lucas Beraldo is surprising but understandable.
The Red Devils have a well-stocked central defensive unit, even though Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans have departed from Old Trafford as free agents. So, it is unclear why Manchester United may want to sign a centre-back in the summer transfer window.
In addition, the Premier League heavyweights have other urgent requirements this summer, although pursuing a market opportunity like Beraldo may be appealing.
So, with Harry Maguire on the wrong side of 30, Beraldo can be a long-term successor to the English international. However, it is unclear if PSG will be open to cashing in on the 21-year-old Brazilian international in the summer transfer window.
So, it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can convince the Ligue 1 champions to part ways with Beraldo in the summer transfer window.
