Barca told Rashford is a ‘better’ signing than Nico Williams

Former Barcelona president Nico Gaspart is never shy of an opinion or two and is confident Marcus Rashford will be a better signing for the club than Nico Williams.

Gaspart has already hit out at Nico for snubbing a move to Catalunya and now says that Rashford is the better player.“Well, first of all for me Marcus Rashford is better than Nico, from here on I don’t care what [Iñaki Williams] can say,” he said, per Sport.

“The player has used us in a good way, he has gotten a good contract, I’m happy for him. I don’t understand Athletic’s disgust and anger, I have signed many important players from Bilbao such as Zubizarreta and I always got on well with the president.”

Gaspart is also excited to see how Hansi Flick’s side can do in the new season after winning three domestic trophies last time out.“Barça excites me,” he explained. ”What excites me the most is the ambition, they started as they finished, the desire, with a similar type of game.

“We have a squad that has to give a lot of joy, with the important incorporation of the goalkeeper (Joan García).

“Last year we were close, for a few minutes we were in the final. The other teams have also taken care of improving the squads, but I think yes, the players know that they are indebted to the members with the Champions League. I would like to win it, but as I said I would sign for a brilliant season like the previous one.”

Barcelona play their final pre-season friendly on Monday and then head home ahead of the start of the new campaign.
