Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has shared his excitement after the Blues secured a 2-0 win over Victor Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen in a preseason clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Nigerian-descent centre-back was back in action after a spell out, featuring as Enzo Maresca’s men put in a solid performance.

Goals from Brazilian duo Estêvão and João Pedro sealed the victory, which gave the London club a confident start to their summer preparations.

Writing on his X (formerly Twitter) page after the game, the Super Eagles-eligible defender expressed his joy to be back playing for the Blues.

“Back on the pitch, back with the fans, and back chasing wins.” he wrote.

Estêvão opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes, reacting quickest to a rebound to slot home on his debut. The visitors pushed for an equaliser but rarely troubled the Blues’ defence.

In the closing stages, João Pedro—another Brazilian summer signing—put the result beyond doubt, calmly finishing after being played through on goal.

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface entered the game in the 72nd minute, where he replaced Patrik Schick. The Nigerian forward registered just one shot during his time on the pitch, as Leverkusen struggled to carve out clear-cut chances.

It was a quiet outing for Boniface, but he will be hoping to make an impact for Erik ten Hag’s men in their 2025-26 opener.
