Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly open to making the move to Trabzonspor, with the Turkish giants hoping to have him between the sticks for the clash with Fenerbahce on September 14.

The Red Devils are said to have reached a verbal agreement with Trabzonspor over a loan deal for the Cameroon international, who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford.

However, Onana still needs to be in favour of a switch to the Turkish outfit in order for a move to become official.According to transfer expert David Ornstein, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper is willing to make the move to the seven-time Turkish champions, and his debut could come against Fenerbahce on September 14.

There will allegedly not be a buy option included in the agreement, while Trabzonspor will also not be paying a loan fee for the Cameroonian, as Man United are so keen to move him on before the Turkish transfer deadline on September 12.

Onana missed pre-season with a hamstring injury, and he dropped to number two in the early stages of the campaign, with Altay Bayindir given the nod between the sticks.

There is a strong argument that Onana is now the number three goalkeeper at Old Trafford, as Senne Lammens completed a switch to Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day.

Lammens could make his debut in next weekend’s blockbuster clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, with Bayindir potentially dropping down to the bench.Bayindir has not convinced in the Premier League this season, making errors in all three of the team’s matches against Arsenal, Fulham and Burnley, while Onana struggled against Grimsby in the EFL Cup.

Onana was at fault for both of the League Two team’s goals in the 2-2 draw, and he then managed to save just one of their 12 penalties, with Man United being dumped out of the competition.

There will allegedly not be a buy option in the proposed loan switch to Trabzonspor, so unless the Turkish giants agree a fee with Man United next summer, then he will be back at Old Trafford in 2026.The Cameroonian has a contract with the 20-time English champions until June 2028, with the option of a further 12 months, but it is difficult to see him playing for the Red Devils again.Onana has simply made too many mistakes during his two seasons at Old Trafford, and having lost the trust of head coach Ruben Amorim, he needs to leave Man United this month for the sake of his career.
