Reinier joins Girona on season-long loan from Real Madrid

Girona have confirmed
the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Reinier on loan for the
2022/23 campaign.

The 20-year-old,
who joined from Flamengo in 2020 for a cool €30m, has just returned from a
bitterly disappointing two-year loan with Borussia Dortmund, where he managed
just 396 Bundesliga minutes across 27 appearances.

Finding a better
fit for the Brazilian was key for Real this
summer and the club have now confirmed that he will spend the remainder of the
season on the books at Girona.

The La Liga
newcomers lost their first game back in the division, falling 1-0 away to
Valencia.

Reinier could make
his debut in Monday’s meeting with Getafe, where he will hope to play alongside
fellow former Real man Miguel Gutierrez. The left-back made a permanent exit
from the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this summer.

Real boss Carlo
Ancelotti has cooled expectations that further signings could be made this
summer but may well change his stance as Manchester United are pressing ahead
with their plans to sign star midfielder Casemiro.
