Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise settling in nicely

Bayern Munich signee Michael Olise spent part of this week getting acclimated to life in Germany and his new club. So, how are things going for Olise during his first few days with Bayern Munich? Let’s find out. “Good. So far everything has been very good. I immediately felt welcome. The coach is very good,” Olise said (as captured by FCBayern.com). Aside of his first impression, Olise gave some input on his history with Jamal Musiala. “We played together a bit when we were younger at Chelsea. He’s a top player. I’m happy to be playing alongside him,” Olise said. Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl is happy to see Olise hit the ground running. “The good thing is that he’s arrived fully fit and on the back of success, even if it wasn’t a gold at the Olympics. Now it’s about...

Serge Gnabry is a veteran who understands competition at Bayern Munich

At Bayern Munich, competition is inevitable. While Bayern Munich portrays the image of a “family” (there are, after all, former Bayern players in high positions in this club), there is plenty of competition for each and every position (except goalkeeper until Manuel Neuer decides to call it a day). Serge Gnabry’s position is questioned every season at the club and it is no secret that certain members of the hierarchy have consistently called for player sales this year. Moreso, new players such as the electric French forward Michael Olise have been added to the roster. Nonetheless, Gnabry, about to enter his seventh season at the club (he was loaned out in his first season in 2017 to TSG Hoffenheim), does not necessarily mind the competition according to @SkySportDE via @iMiaSanMia as he ...

Christoph Freund talks Bayern Munich’s win over Wsg Tirol, Leon Goretzka, and Désiré Doué

Bayern Munich closed out its preseason with a 3-0 victory over WSG Tirol, which left sporting director Christoph Freund pleased with what he saw. “It was an important friendly because many of the boys came back later and now they’ve got minutes. So it was exactly what we wanted. The game served its purpose. It was a decent match and it’s important that everyone has a game under their belt. It’s good that everyone is back now and the coach will choose the right line-up on Friday,” said Freund (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).One player who was not in the lineup against WSG Tirol and who probably won’t feature against SSV Ulm either is midfielder Leon Goretzka. When asked if Goretzka would stay at Bayern Munich, Freund said, “We’ll see.” Regardless, Freund does expect Goretzka to comp...

Leon Goretzka’s Bayern Munich future looking bleak

To say that Bayern Munich is in a bit of a transitional phase would be an understatement. Coming off of their first season without silverware in over a decade with a completely new manager and coaching staff in Vincent Kompany and everyone he brought with him, the Rekordmeister are looking to return to the top of the German footballing pedestal that Bayer Leverkusen so deservedly perched themselves onto last season under Xabi Alonso. Members of the club’s front office and supervisory board have shared the sentiment that Bayern needed to have some player sales before they could add to their inbound list of Hiroki Ito, Michael Olise, and João Palhinha, and there could still be some players leaving, even after Mazraoui and De Ligt agreed deals to head to Manchester United. In addition to al...

Tottenham lose final pre-season friendly

Tottenham fell to a 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in an entertaining affair, or at least the first half, in North London. New signing Dominic Solanke, who was announced earlier in the day, was at the game, and was presented to the fans before kick-off. Former Spurs stalwarts Eric Dier and Harry Kane were both gifted commemorative awards pre-match for their service to Spurs over the years. Spurs starting line-up was; Vicario, Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Spence; Sarr, Bissouma; Johnson, Maddison, Son; Kulusevski. The good vibes all around pre-game continued after Dejan Kulusevski gave the Spurs the lead from close range within the first minute. It was downhill from there, however - Bayern started to create chances and were rewarded for their perseverance as Dayot Upamecano tapped home a rebo...

Tottenham injury latest ahead of Bayern Munich clash

Tottenham Hotspur end their pre-season preparations today as they take on German giants Bayern Munich in the Visit Malta Cup. The match takes place at 5.30pm at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs have an eye on their Premier League opener against Leicester City nine days later. Ange Postecoglou’s side have a bit longer to wait due to the game being selected for live TV coverage. Spurs travel to the King Power Stadium on the Monday night as they look to get their season off to the perfect start. But the extra few days could be good news in terms of getting players back from injury. Destiny Udogie, Richarlison and Fraser Forster have all missed pre-season through injury, but all three players are closing in on a return. There are also several platers who have now returned after extende...
