But one thing about the competition some might not know is that it directly affects the World Cup qualification cycle. Germany could have landed in either World Cup qualifying Group A or Group I, but due to Sunday’s 3-3 draw against Italy and the resulting 5-4 aggregate victory over both legs in the Nations League quarterfinals, Germany are in Group A.
