Lazio took the lead in the 27th minute as Fisayo Dele-Bashiru capitalized on a brilliant assist from Nicolo Rovella to score from close range. Marco Brescianini, however, equalized for the visitors in the 88th minute with a composed finish inside the penalty box, set up by Ademola Lookman at Stadio Olimpico. Atalanta, who have a match in hand are atop the Serie A standings with 41 points, Lazio are fourth with 35 on matchday 18.

Problems keep piling up for Atalanta at the start of the new campaign as Marco Brescianini faces a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines. The former Frosinone midfielder picked up an injury during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Bologna at Renato Dall’Ara. Brescianini tried to break the deadlock on the stroke of halftime when he latched on to Sead Kolasinac’s cut-back on the edge of the six-yard box. Despite a delightful first touch, the Atalanta star caught the turf as he was trying to pull the trigger, injuring himself in the process. The 24-year-old immediately asked for medical attention.
