His latest role, in the wake of Jamal Musiala’s injury, has been to inherit the central playmaking position behind the striker.
It’s a fluid assignment, involving plenty of exchanges, especially with right-sided inverting winger Michael Olise, and it’s one Gnabry has taken up with aplomb.
