Bologna, Lazio miss chance to move back into UCL places

UDINE, ITALY - APRIL 28: Riccardo Orsolini of Bologna is put under pressure by Oumar Solet of Udinese during the Serie A match between Udinese and Bologna at Stadio Friuli on April 28, 2025 in Udine, Italy. Coppa Italia finalists Bologna have missed the chance to move back up into the Champions League places after being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw in their Serie A match at Udinese. The home side - looking to end a run of five straight league defeats - hit the crossbar early on through Keinan Davis with Bologna seeing a 25-yard strike from Riccardo Orsolini also rattle the woodwork in the second half. Bologna - who last week completed a 5-1 aggregate win over Empoli to reach a first Coppa Italia final since 1974, where they will play AC Milan - sit in fifth place, now a point behind ...

AC Milan canters to victory over struggling Udinese

UDINE, ITALY - APRIL 11: Rafael Leao of AC Milan celebrates after scoring the opening goal during the Serie A match between Udinese and AC Milan at Stadio Friuli on April 11, 2025 in Udine, Italy. Two goals right before halftime put visiting AC Milan on its way to a comfortable 4-0 win over Udinese in Serie A on Friday and extended the home side´s losing streak to four matches. Udinese is on its worst run since the end of the 2022-23 season, when it also lost four in a row. It remains in 11th place. The win left Milan in ninth, one point behind Fiorentina, but it will worry about an injury to goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who was taken off on a stretcher after colliding with teammate Alex Jiménez. Rafael Leao´s superb strike from 18 meters was quickly followed by Strahinja Pavlovic´s glanci...

Late Zanoli goal gives Genoa win over Udinese in Serie A

GENOA, ITALY - APRIL 04: Alessandro Zanoli of Genoa celebrates scoring his team's first goal during the Serie A match between Genoa and Udinese at Stadio Luigi Ferraris on April 04, 2025 in Genoa, Italy. A late winner from Alessandro Zanoli gave Genoa a 1-0 win over Udinese in Serie A and extended its unbeaten home run to six games on Friday. After an insipid first half, Zanoli scored in the 77th minute when he pounced on a rebound and shot home from an angle. But Patrick Vieira´s men survived a late scare when Rui Modesto´s stoppage-time equalizer was ruled out after a video review. The win means Udinese has lost three in a row and is only two points ahead of Genoa, which sits two places behind it in 12th spot.

Atalanta held to a goalless draw at Udinese

(Photo by Timothy Rogers/Getty Images) Atalanta missed the chance to move provisionally top of Serie A on Saturday after being held to a goalless draw at Udinese which left them two points behind league leaders Napoli. Gian Piero Gasperini's side would have moved above Napoli, who host Verona on Sunday, on goal difference with a win in Udine but were a long way from their brilliant best. "They were better than us, more intense than us. We struggled the whole first half and were lucky," said Gasperini to DAZN. "We were a bit better in the second half but in ...

Martinez double at Udinese fires Inter level with Serie A leaders

Lautaro Martinez struck his first goals of the season for Inter Milan with a brace in Saturday's 3-2 win at Udinese which moved the champions level with Torino and local rivals AC Milan at the top of Serie A. Davide Frattesi's deft finish after just 43 seconds was followed by Argentina forward Martinez's strikes moments before and after half-time. The win in Udine saw Inter bounce back from Milan derby defeat last weekend and move up to 11 points after six matches. Torino, who host Lazio on Sunday, currently hold top spot by virtue of second-placed Milan and Inter having played a game more. "After the derby we kept quiet and worked hard and I think you saw that on the pitch," said Martinez to DAZN. Martinez's brace will be great news for coach Simone Inzaghi whose team host Red Star Belgra...

Alexis Sanchez completes move back to former club

Udinese confirmed this weekend that they’ve completed the signing of former Gunner Alexis Sanchez, with the forward leaving Inter Milan as a free agent this summer. Sanchez has signed a two-year contract to return to the club after 13 years away. Gianluca Di Marzio had reported earlier this week that Sanchez was close to the Udinese move, after he called them on Monday morning to let them know he wants to play for them, and he’s effectively closed the deal on his own. Sanchez had also previously been linked with a move back to Marseille, but that deal was always going to be difficult financially. The Chilean had initially left Marseille for Inter Milan due to the fact the club couldn’t afford both his and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s wages. Aubameyang has since left, but he’s being rep...
