Pogba has said he wants to show Manchester United they made a mistake by
failing to extend his contract beyond this summer.
The 29-year-old midfielder will leave United on a free transfer for the second time on June 30 after
struggling to impress during his six-year spell at the club.
United signed Pogba from Juventus for a
then-world record £89 million fee in August 2016, four years after he left Old
Trafford to join the Italian side.
Juventus are firm favourites to re-sign Pogba
this summer and the France international is hoping to show his true worth
wherever he ends up.
Pogba, speaking in his new Amazon Prime
documentary named The Pogmentary, said: “My thought process is to show
Manchester (United) that they made a mistake in waiting to give me a contract.“And to show other clubs that Manchester had
made a mistake in not offering me a contract.”
United made Pogba at least two offers worth
more than the existing £290,000-a-week deal that had already made him one of
the best-paid players in the Premier League.
But Pogba responded to his late agent Mino
Raiola’s revelation of their second offer last July by saying the club had
offered him “nothing”.
“How can you tell a player you absolutely
want him and offer him nothing?” Pogba says. “Never seen that.”
Pogba only managed to win the Europa League
and League Cup at United but he did help France lift the World Cup in 2018.
Sections of United’s support accused Pogba of
playing well for his country while failing to replicate that form for his club.
Raiola, believed something was “blocking him”
from living up to his price tag at United.
“We must try to make you feel as good as when
you are with the French national team,” Raiola says. “You’re different with
them. You understand? You’re another Pogba with the Manchester United team.
It’s not normal.“With the France team, you’re the real Pogba,
the Pogba of Juventus, the Pogba that everyone loves. With Manchester, there’s
something blocking you.”
