Miralem Pjanic of Besiktas JK during the Turkish Super Lig match between Besiktas and Gaziantep FK at Vodafone Park on January 14, 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey. |
Player of the
national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Miralem
Pjanic, revealed in an interview for French Canal Plus that he
decided at the last minute to leave Barcelona and be temporarily
in Besiktas and added that he plans to return to this club in June next
year.
At the beginning of
this year, Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman wrote off Pjanic from all
combinations in the Catalan team and gave a chance to younger players who come
from the youth team, and in the end, our player was forced to leave the
club. It happened because his career would stagnate as long as Koeman
is there.
Going to Besiktas
proved to be the right move from the very beginning, but Pjanic recently
suffered an injury and is currently in the process of rehabilitation so he
could return to the field. In an interview with French media, he
mentioned he plans to return to Barcelona after
his loan period expires.
“It all happened at
the last minute. I only had an hour to think about the Besiktas offer. It was
either accepting the offer and leaving or staying in Barcelona. I knew things
wouldn’t change for me in Barcelona because Koeman wrote me off for no reason,
” told Pjanic and added:
“The managers
called me and told me they respected my decision and that they didn’t
understand why I didn’t play. Still, I will be back in Barcelona in
June.”
Pjanic played
only 30 games for Barcelona with Koeman in all competitions (19 in La
Liga, 8 in the Champions League, 1 in the Spanish Cup, and
2 games in the Super Cup), while he played 5 matches in Besiktas
and recorded three assists.
Our player has
signed a contract with Barcelona that lasts until 2024.
