Everton have
confirmed the signing of James Tarkowski on a free transfer and unveiled the
29-year-old in club colours on Saturday.
Tarkowski joins after five years at Burnley.
He left the club after their relegation from the Premier
League when his contract expired and impressed in his six years
at the north-west club.
Tarkowski said he was ‘excited’ to join Everton and
that it is a ‘massive club’. He added that conversations with manager Frank Lampard and
his vision for the team were an important factor in his decision to
join.
‘Speaking to the manager, it was very important to
see what he wants from his players and his team, what he saw in me and why he
wanted to sign me, Tarkowski told Everton’s club website.
‘Speaking to (director of football) Kevin Thelwell was also a factor. They both
spoke about the ambition here which was really important for me.‘I’m an ambitious person, I want to achieve, I want
to win things and I’ve come here to be successful.’
