Joe Aribo of Rangers FC battle for the ball with Tyler Adams of RB Leipzig during RB Leipzig against Rangers FC, UEFA Europa league Semi-final at Red Bull Arena, Leipzig, Germany on April 28, 2022. |
According to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, American
defensive midfielder Tyler Adams ‘really wants’ a loan move to Leeds United.
Jacobs has reportedly already spoken to manager
Jesse Marsch, with whom he played both at New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig.
Tyler Adams really wants a loan move to Leeds. He’s already spoken to Jesse Marsch, who wants another midfielder despite landing Marc Roca. Leipzig open to a deal after Xaver Schlager’s arrival. Adams needs game time ahead of the World Cup. Everton and Sevilla also interested.

Marsch is said to want another midfielder in
addition to the summer signing of Marc Roca from Bayern Munich, who is not seen
as a direct replacement to Kalvin Phillips, who has a move to Manchester City
imminent.
A loan move may suit all parties involved. With
Leipzig signing Xavier Schlager, he may not find himself playing often next
season, as he has struggled for form in the Bundesliga. With the United States
playing in the World Cup, qualifying behind Canada and Mexico, the player
himself will want to get game time so that he can stake a claim for Gregg
Berhalter’s squad.
Leeds United need another defensive midfielder with Kalvin
Phillips leaving for Manchester City: a signing there needs to be made, and a
loan move would be preferred since he has struggled for form: no large upfront
fee will have to be paid for a potentially poor signing.
Mo Camara of RB Salzburg remains the other,
costlier, option for a defensive midfield signing, and TeamTalk in their ‘Euro
Paper Talk‘ suggested that he has ‘given his agreement’ to join the club,
although they failed to put a source for this claim. This should therefore be
taken with a pinch of salt.
Camara would likely cost around £25 million, while
Brighton are also heavily interested in the Malian, meaning a battle could be
on between the two clubs for the talented midfielder’s signature.
