Daniel Maldini of AC Milan in action during the pre-season friendly match between 1. FC Köln and AC Milan on July 16, 2022 in Cologne, Germany. |
Daniel Maldini has
officially completed his loan move to Spezia for one season,
the first member of the Maldini family to play for a different Serie A club
than Milan.
A statement from the Rossoneri confirmed it is a dry
loan, so will only last for one season without an option to buy.
The 20-year-old creative midfielder is the son of
director Paolo Maldini and grandson of Milan legend Cesare Maldini.
He becomes the first member of this Calcio family to
play for a Serie A club other than the Diavolo.
Daniel also has a brother, Christian, who is
currently playing in Serie C with Pro Sesto and never made his top flight
debut.
Cesare spent time playing for Foggia, Ternana and
Parma, but only in Serie B.
Daniel Maldini has
made 15 Serie A appearances so far in his career, scoring one goal, which
curiously enough was against his new club Spezia in September 2021.
