Liverpool also want to sign ‘outstanding’ winger after declaring Federico Chiesa interest

Liverpool’s transfer window seems to have sprung to life as we edge closer to deadline day.

Federico Chiesa has been linked with a move to Anfield as the Reds contacted Juventus yesterday to test the waters about a potential transfer.

With less than a year left on his current deal, Chiesa is available for around £15m, making him a low-cost option. However, the Italian is not the only attacker on Liverpool’s radar, with Kingsley Coman also linked with a move to Arne Slot’s side before the deadline.

Liverpool want Kingsley Coman to strengthen attack

Coman has decided to leave Bayern Munich and has a huge offer on the table to move to Saudi Arabia, having previously been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, According to Nabil Djellit of France Football, the 28-year-old is also attracting interest from Liverpool ahead of the transfer deadline.

Further details remain unclear at this stage, but with the Frenchman the second attacker to be linked with a move to Anfield over the past 24 hours, Liverpool’s willingness to add to their squad before the deadline is apparent.

Coman featured in Bayern’s 3-2 win against Wolfsburg in their Bundesliga opener as he came on as a second-half substitute. He has a contract until 2027, so Bayern are unlikely to part with him on the cheap, which could be a stumbling block for Liverpool.

Should Liverpool pursue Chiesa or Coman?

While both players have struggled with injuries in recent seasons, Chiesa is younger and is also the cheaper option, making him a better fit for Liverpool.

The Italian is capable of playing anywhere in attack and could be used as a backup for Mohamed Salah on the right flank, with the Reds short of players in that position.

As for Coman, his career is at a bit of a crossroads – much like Chiesa’s – as Bayern Munich enter a new era under Vincent Kompany.

Jupp Heynckes previously hailed Coman as an ‘outstanding’ player, but Liverpool would be best advised to pursue a move for Chiesa instead as the Italian would be more of a low-risk high-reward signing. The Frenchman won’t be short of suitors, though, as he prepares to leave Bayern after nearly ten years at the club.
