PSG Attack in ‘Complicated Period’ Ahead of Crucial Arsenal Clash, Expert Warns

Over the last two matches, Paris Saint-Germain have struggled with their attack, needing luck in the goal against Girona FC and only scored off a header from Ousmane Dembélé on the road at Stade de Reims.

The French giants must resolve their scoring woes before their marquee UEFA Champions League match against Arsenal on October 1.

PSG’s performance is worrying, especially considering how well their opponents in the competition played this past weekend.

Arsenal managed a 2-1 win over Manchester City despite being down to 10 men, VfB Stuttgart thrashed Borussia Dortmund 5-1, Manchester City grabbed a stoppage-time equalizer against Arsenal, and Bayern Munich have racked up 20 goals in their last three games.

With the road match a few days away, Football Transfer’s Robin Bairner shared why the attack, which was on fire before the FIFA international break, has hit a wall recently.

“Obviously the Champions League is coming into play and Luis Enrique is really trying to juggle a lot of things at the moment I think,” Bairner said on the latest PSG Talking podcast.

“And that’s complicated because he’s got a lot of players he needs to keep happy. There’s a lot of rotation going on in the squad.

“We’ve seen a lot of changes in the team, and I think when you start to make so many changes, you start to lose some of the rhythm as well.

And I think that’s been very evident. We’ve seen Bradley Barcola, his form has fallen off a cliff since the international break.

That’s certainly been problematic because you spoke about Mbappé there but he was the man who was replacing Mbappé.

He was stepping up to the plate and his form is notably dipped and that’s a major issue for PSG at the moment. Yeah, it’s certainly a complicated period in the season.”

The reigning Ligue 1 champions will look to show that the match against Girona was a one-off and that the squad can finish their scoring chances.
