Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo hopes Murillo will be fit for their important encounter with Leicester City.
The clash scheduled at the City Ground on Sunday (2.15pm kick-off) is big as the Reds, facing a dip in form, host their relegated local rivals.
With their Champions League ambitions wavering and just three games remaining, Forest aim to secure a top-five finish. Encouragement was drawn from Forest’s improved display during their 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on Monday night, yet concerns loom over an injury to defender Murillo at Selhurst Park.
After securing a point with a crucial equalising goal, Murillo had to leave the pitch in the 81st minute with what appeared to be a hamstring issue.
However, Nuno remains optimistic about Murillo’s participation against the Foxes, saying, “He has been able to do part of the training sessions. But we still have to assess him tomorrow better.
“He is doing part of the training session, not the full session. Hopefully for Sunday.”
Their injury worries don’t end there as they will be without Callum Hudson-Odoi, who suffered a hamstring injury versus Brentford and missed the game in London.
On Hudson-Odoi’s condition Nuno remarked, “He is improving but he is not going to be available for this game,” expressing hope that the winger could return before the season’s end, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
The Reds, currently in sixth place, are only two points behind Newcastle United and Chelsea as they head into this weekend’s matches. Following their game against Leicester, they will travel to face West Ham United before a potentially crucial home match against the Blues on the final day.
