Lamine Yamal has signed a new contract at Barcelona that will keep him at the club at least until 2031 and is expected also to be handed the No. 10 shirt for next season.
The iconic shirt currently belongs to Ansu Fati, but the forward is set to move on in the summer and is being tipped to join Monaco.
Yamal has been asked about changing shirt numbers and told COPE he is in absolutely no rush to let go of his No. 19 jersey at Barcelona.
“At the moment, Ansu has it,” he explained.“I wear number 19 and I really like it; it’s brought me luck.“Is there more pressure to play with number 10? When I go to shoot at goal, I’m not going to think about what number I’m wearing.”
We’ll have to wait and see what happens next but Yamal hasn’t found it difficult to cope with the pressure yet at Barca and certainly doesn’t seem fazed about the possibility of wearing Lionel Messi’s shirt at Barca.
