Inter Milan temporarily topped the Serie A standings after a 1-0 victory over Roma on Saturday evening in the top match of the seventh round of the Calcio.
Inter owes this victory to striker Ange-Yoan Bony, who scored the only goal of the match in the sixth minute, advancing from the right and firing past goalkeeper Mile Svilar.
After the goal, Inter Milan managed to further control the match, while Roma tried to come back and recover from the early goal they conceded, but were unable to do so.
Inter Milan now has 15 points at the top of the Serie A standings, on goal difference ahead of Roma and Napoli in second and third place.
The Nerazzurri are two points behind their traditional rivals, fourth-placed AC Milan, who play Fiorentina on Sunday evening in the seventh round.
Inter Milan is preparing to face Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise next Tuesday in the third round of the Champions League.
