Real Madrid look increasingly likely to appoint a new manager this summer and have now added Massimiliano Allegri to their shortlist.
The Italian coach is currently in charge of AC Milan and has yet to coach outside of Italy.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Madrid are “considering Allegri” for the job. Florentino Perez wants a more experienced and established manager to be appointed.
Allegri only returned to management with Milan last summer after previously managing the Serie A giants.
He’s one of Italian football’s most successful managers, winning the title six times during his career.
Allegri signed a two-year deal with Milan, which expires in the summer of 2027 meaning he won’t be available ahead of the 2026-27 season.
That’s unless he makes clear he wants to become Madrid’s new manager and try out Spanish football.His Rosseneri side currently sit second in Serie A, 10 points behind leaders Inter Milan.
He’s overseen 16 wins and two defeats in 27 league games since returning to San Siro.
Allegri certainly has the experience that Madrid will be desiring this summer, given he’s also coached Juventus.
The 58-year-old is also a dominant figure who won’t stand for player power, something that caused major issued during Xabi Alonso’s tumultous reign.
