Axel Disasi will spend the rest of the season on loan at Aston Villa, after a late-late move on transfer deadline day was confirmed following quite a few twists and turns in the last couple days.
Disasi had been mooted to be on the transfer list all along in this window, having not seen much Premier League action in the first half of the season, but interest didn’t materialize until late. At that point, both Villa and Tottenham Hotspur tussled over his favor, with the latter getting amusingly rejected not once but twice by the player. Chelsea might have preferred to do business with Spurs — shock! — but Disasi was a bit of Propah-Chels in this case (also, he probably didn’t want to douse himself in the silliness of Ange-ball).
Disasi should be eligible to play in Europe, too, for the Villans, and should provide some much-needed depth for them. That might come back to bite us in the race for the top-four/-six … or perhaps he can sabotage them from within! G’wan, Agent Axel!
There are no further clauses, options, or obligations attached to this loan, which is reportedly costing Villa in the region of £5m (plus all the wages), so Disasi will be expected back in Blue at the end of the season.
